Every bead is placed by hand, so no two are exactly alike.

The story of the beaded belt

Each belt begins as a strip of leather. Glass seed beads are stitched onto it by hand, row by row, in the same patterns Maasai women bead into collars and cuffs, and it is finished with a solid brass buckle that warms and darkens with wear. It takes days of close work to bead a single belt, and it is made to be worn every day, for years.
